Corona Virus Disease – Covid-19 Symptoms
The symptoms of Coronavirus are similar to that of other Flu Viral infections at the early stages and could be mistaken as such. Early symptoms could include but not limited to occasional dry coughs, sneezing, fatigue, chills, and headache. Symptoms may also manifest between 2 to 14 days after being infected with the Covid-19 virus symptoms. Most importantly, the symptoms are similar to that of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Based on the research conducted and information/analysis gathered by WHO-China Joint Mission on Corona Virus in China from the first victims of the viral infection, the following symptoms were common among people infected with the virus:
- 88% experienced fever
- 68% experienced dry cough
- 38% experienced Fatigue
- 33% experienced coughing up thick phlegm, or sputum from their lungs
- 19% experienced breath shortness
- 15% experienced joint and/or bone pains
- 14% experienced sore throat
- 14% experienced headache
- 11% experienced chills
- 5% of them experienced vomiting/nausea
- 4% experienced diarrhea
- – 1% experienced coughing up blood.
In addition to that, Coronavirus is known to be a lower respiratory tract infection. As such, symptoms are more felt in the chest and lungs. The Center for disease Control (CDC) also added Fever and Shortness of breath to the list of symptoms to look out for.
Call your doctor to discuss your symptoms and avoid contact with other people of you are ill as the Covid-19 Virus is highly contagious. Medical experts have also recommended social distancing, frequent hand washing and Wearing a mask among other hygiene habits to curb the spread of the virus.
